What's great about the video is that people look so NORMAL as artists, as seagulls!!!! I'd like to know more about what's going on in the video...is it a class? Who's the teacher? Why seagulls? And what did the kids have to say about the experience? Looks like a totally fun day! Now I want to wear wings in the middle of Settlement Quarry on a sunny day and dance...
OHA brought dancer Tawanda Chabikwa, a masters student at SMU, into Deer Isle-Stonington middle school for a one week artistic residency around the practices and some of the visual components begin tested for Q2: Habitat . . . these are DI-S 7th graders working with Tawanda in a field trip to the Quarry . . . he was working with the kids to help them create improvised movement related to their surroundings . . . and, well, seagulls are a big part of our island habitat! But I want our puppet artist, Mia, to talk more about the seagulls. The students asked lots of questions about how they were made . . .
